The OneDay 24 is Ottenhome Heeg’s brand new daysailer. The design of this tour racer is based on two fundamental qualities; comfort and excellent sailing performance. The OneDay 24 is intended for sailors who place high demands on their yachts, but who also want to sail comfortably all day long. Ergonomic design.
The design of the OneDay 24 is all about ergonomics. The wide and flat cockpit make light work of sailing, and ensure it is an enjoyable experience. The high gunwales and optional long benches mean you can sit in a good, comfortable sailing position, and enjoy your sailing to the full. All the lines can be operated from the cockpit. The OneDay 24 is suitable for a large crew, but is equally suitable for single-handed sailing. The self-tacking jib and well-designed running rigging make solo sailing a breeze. The ‘Volvo Ocean’ design results in unusually good stability and, therefore, safety and control under all circumstances.
The OneDay 24 is designed for speed. And its equipment and rigging has been selected accordingly.
The latest models of the Selden mast, boom and accessories are used to hoist a Gaastra Dynamics laminated mainsail with batons and jib, which together provide the very best performance on the water. The mainsail area is 17 m², while the boom jib covers 9 m². The supplied gennaker adds another 30 m² of sail area.
The relatively high keel weight and wide underwater hull make this boat very stable. The design of the hull is modelled on modern Volvo Ocean racers, with a steeply-angled bow and wide, flat stern.
The OneDay 24 can be fitted with a trapeze for sports sailors, but the standard version can be operated just as easily by a single-handed sailor.
The designer of the OneDay 24 left nothing to chance, so this boat is fitted with the best of everything. Only the best materials are sufficient when it comes to maximising sailing performance and comfort. The polyester fibreglass hull of the OneDay 24 is fitted with a Selden mast, boom, topping lift, kicking strap, and other equipment. The jib furling is a Furlex 50 FLX 50S model, while all the deck fittings, blocks and traveller are made by Harken.
Two long, ergonomic benches can be mounted in the cockpit.
The keel torpedo is made of solid lead, while the keel shaft is made of hollow stainless steel. This design results in a very low centre of gravity. The polyester rudder is connected to a stainless steel shaft, which is fitted with a curved tiller with extendable Spinlock joystick.
The OneDay 24 can be fitted with an inboard electric motor with propeller shaft and folding propeller, or with a Torqeedo electric outboard.
