The Fox 22 is a very distinctive boat. The steep bow, flat deck and open transom with stern-mounted rudder all give this yacht a very unusual silhouette.

Both touring sailors and true regatta enthusiasts will find the Fox 22 a comfortable and fast yacht. The long plimsoll line, wide stern, and relatively low weight all help to give the Fox 22 hull an extremely low water resistance.Together with the modern 7/8th rigging, this results in a sporty yacht that jumps forward with the slightest breeze, and responds immediately to rudder and sail trimming.
The concept of the Fox 22 is plenty of space on deck, in the cockpit and in the cabin. It is spartan in terms of equipment, with a minimum of unnecessary gadgets in the cabin, and is designed for sailors who use on-shore facilities. The benefits of this include minimal time lost with maintenance and management; the Fox is always ready to sail. The list of equipment can, of course, be extended with a range of options, but many Fox sailors think this to be unnecessary.
